The competition is now closed.
To celebrate the success of the eTwinning programme and to help encourage even more schools to participate in it, the British Council is running a competition for UK schools and colleges to design a piece of artwork that captures what your eTwinning partnership means to you. The winning entries will be reproduced on promotional items such as postcards, stickers and CDs to publicise eTwinning to schools that haven't yet joined.
There are four age categories - three to six, seven to ten, 11 to 15 and 16 to 18. Entries in the two younger age groups should be collaborative, with students working in pairs, small groups or even as a whole class. Entries in the two older age groups should be from individual students. Each school can enter a maximum of ten separate designs.
Entries will be judged by a panel that includes an independent art and design specialist. The panel will be looking for designs that not only sum up the spirit of eTwinning, but which also promote the programme in an original and effective way, and will be visually strong when reproduced for promotional purposes.
The work of the winners and runners-up will also be displayed in a special online gallery and the winners' schools will each receive collaborative software, which will help them develop their eTwinning partnerships further. The schools of the runners-up will each receive a webcam.
You can use any media in your design, but the finished artwork must be a digital 2D image, saved as a jpeg or tiff file, and it must be a maximum of 2 megabytes in size. If you need advice on reducing the size of your jpeg or tiff, your ICT department should be able to help or have a look here.
The closing date for the receipt of all entries is midnight on 23 June 2008.
It's really important that you read the terms and conditions of entry, which are here.
If you have registered your school or college on the eTwinning portal, but haven't yet registered a partnership, you can still enter this competition as long as you register a partnership first. You can register your partnership on the eTwinning portal, which is here.
