Thanks for the feedback.

We totally agree and wish that everyone would take prize promotion compliance as seriously as we do.

It's great to see a proper 'grown up' discussion about this subject. Some promoters are clearly flouting their own T&C in Twitter competitions and people who question them on this are often dismissed as digruntled sore losers. If T&C's were clear and adhered to then everyone would be happy.
I think some companies fail to see just how powerful this new fangled 'social media' malarkey can be! The comping community are quite a close knit bunch and word soon gets round. And boy, does news travel fast as Lynn said. Bad news travels even faster....
Choosing a winner that hasn't tweeted or doesn't follow can only damage the organiser's reputation and will surely cost them more in the long run than the price of an iPad or smartphone or a years supply of tasty treats, so why bother running bogus competitions?
The only way to run a competition is to run it fairly & here's to the ones who do.
I really do encourage anyone to contact the IPM if there seems to be sufficient evidence that an organiser has been running a suspect competition, it's a simple process and they are interested in your thoughts about these competitions - I've done a few now.....

Thank you spark&fuse :O)

God that's dreadful, how on earth did they think they'd get away with it.

Like most situations in life honest and integrity count for a lot!

Thanks for the feedback, Lynne. We’d love to see everyone on Twitter running their prize promotion to code. Some companies simply don’t know that
certain procedures must be followed, while there are others who, unfortunately, just think it doesn’t really matter. But as you rightly point out, word travels fast in the Twitterverse and if people can’t trust a company to run a prize draw legitimately, then they won’t trust the company’s goods or services, either.

This is absolutely brilliant! This really needed to be put out there, I comp as a hobby and I also shop a great deal online. My hobby has found me some amazing companies that I will always go to first for the products I need. Without their competitions I probably would never have heard of most of them.
Unfortunately badly run competitions are prevalent on Twitter - it seems a good idea at the time, but if it does turn out badly the company is in for a shock. News travels so fast on Twitter! To be honest though I watch to see how the companies that have got in to problems deal with it, that for me is the cruncher - if they don't treat the complaints and potential customers with respect and good customer service then unfortunately in this economic crunch time - they won't be in business for long! Well done Spark and Fuse!
