Tesco Mum of the Year Awards
Planning for this annual awards ceremony (which we have managed for the last eight years) takes almost a year. It’s an incredibly rewarding project to be involved with, but it’s immensely hard work, too, as there are so many details that we have to – and want to – get just right. This year it was televised by Channel 5 on Mother’s Day.

In addition to providing compliance advice on the competition side of the nomination process, Spark & Fuse provide full event management for Tesco Mum of the Year from logistics at the venue, The Savoy, to managing the needs of 180 guests and a 90-strong event crew.
For the weekend of the event, we co-ordinate the travel and overnight accommodation for over a hundred people, as well as organising all the riders for performers (this year it was Il Divo and The Overtones) and ensure the needs of all the guests are met – for 2013 we had to ensure celebrity presenter, Fiona Phillips, winning celebrity mum, Melanie C, and brand ambassador Denise Van Outen had everything they required. It’s also really important that this is an experience the award-winning mums will never forget, so from the Saturday morning when they arrive until the Monday afternoon when they leave, we ensure that it’s the most amazing weekend for them all.
From overseeing the guest list to working with all the other agencies involved, we pull all this off every year because we’re incredibly dedicated, well organised and efficient. We’re responsible for every last detail, like ensuring the red carpet goes down on time and delivering gifts to guests’ rooms. As the event was televised for the first time this year, we also worked with C5 to ensure they could set up and televise to a specific brief, and we also provided production support where necessary. Timings on the day are crucial and our experienced team knows how to deliver a slick, flawless event. Each year we build on the previous year to improve our service and ensure Tesco Mum of the Year is an extraordinary event.
